Title: United States Sales Tax Exemption
Post by: pbeilschmidt on February 08, 2021, 03:01 PM
When customers located in the U.S. purchase e!Sankey software licenses in our online shop, a state sales tax might be charged, depending on which state your company/institution is located in. Check individual states' sales tax information for more detail.

Digital River MyCommerce collects the sales tax when purchasing in the online shop. If you are GOV or MIL or otherwise have a tax exemption certificate (e.g. as a university), please note that you can reclaim the sales tax from Digital River MyCommerce by presenting your tax exemption certificate. Although it is not possible to prevent sales tax from being collected on orders placed by customers in those states, customers whose organizations are tax-exempt can receive a refund of the sales tax collected on their orders, credited back to the same payment account used for the order.

Here is the relevant entry from the ShareIT Digital River My Commerce FAQ

Q: My organization is tax exempt, how do I purchase without sales tax?
A: ShareIT's parent company, Digital River MyCommerce, is registered to collect state sales tax in every U.S. state that has a state sales tax. Although it is not possible to prevent sales tax from being collected on orders placed by customers in those states, customers whose organizations are tax-exempt can receive a refund of the sales tax collected on their orders, credited back to the same payment account used for the order.

To receive a refund of state sales tax after placing an order:
1) Send an e-mail message to accounting@shareit.com with a subject line of "Sales Tax Refund Request", or send a fax to +1 952 646-4552.
2) In the message, include the order ID shown on your receipt / invoice.
3) In the message, please include / attach your organization's tax exempt documentation. This may be a certificate, tax form, or other government-issued documentation.

Customer Support for sales tax refunds is available 24 hours a day. Once your refund has been processed, the funds will post back to the payment account (e.g., credit card) used for the order within 3-5 business days.

How do you manage customer databases?

Working with the customer base in sales is one of the critical tasks. Customers are the driving apparatus of a sales-related business. If there are no customers, there will be no profit. Without decent financial literacy, it is impossible to carry out any business operations. In turn, customer data is fundamental. Therefore, an entrepreneur needs to systematize digital sales data and have a stable database with customer data. For this, I'd advise you to try a salesforce inbox trial (https://revenuegrid.com/revenueinbox/) to customize what customer data to capture, how to display it in your Email sidebar, and what flows to trigger when a prospect engages. Moreover, you can choose any deployment and work on desktop, cloud, and mobile with Salesforce Email integration.
