original Steam Plant diagram by Captain Sankey?
« on: June 03, 2009, 04:30 PM »
Hello everyone,

has any of you drawn the original / first sankey diagram by Captain Matthey Sankey?

The diagram I am talking about is the one Mr. Sankey made in 1898 and shows the flows of an idealized steam plant in comparison to an actual steam plant.

The title of the diagram is "The thermal efficiency of steam-engines."

Looking forward to your answers!

Kind regards,

If you like have a look to:

http://www.sankey-diagrams.com/the-first-sankey-diagram/

It's a little bit hard to read but they say its the diagram "published by Captain Henry R. Sankey in 1898 in the Minutes of Proceedings of The Institution of Civil Engineers. Vol. CXXXIV, Session 1897-98. Part IV."

may be its realy the first one
best regards

Thank you, UdoK! I did not know that Phineas has it on his site.
By the way, the original diagram is also available at Wikipedia:

I received a nice re-make of Captain Sankey's original diagram by Mr. Thomas Baur. Thank you very much! It is attached here:
