Formula when adding quantity to flows
« on: October 18, 2007, 10:33 AM »
Hi, Would it be possible to set an formula as a quantity on a flow e.g.
"outflow1 = 0.8 x inflow1" and "outflow2 = 0.2 x inflow1"?

That would certainly add another dimension to your tool!

Many times it is handy to define a distribution coefficcient for diverting flows out of a process. And it will save time when changing some quantities in the beginning of a sankey diagram to see the uppdate of the other flows when they depend on earlier flows.

The functionality you are describing is one of the default features in our software product Umberto.
In fact, e!Sankey, is just the visualization component of Umberto, our software for material and energy flow management and process optimization.

We want to keep e!Sankey simple, easy-to-use and affordable, for those customers who just want to visualize flows.
For those people who want to take the next step in putting "intelligence" into the material flow networks, and determine flow quantities automatically, we suggest to use our product Umberto. For more information, please visit http://www.Umberto.de

But, dear friends, the problem is:
Even the cheapest version of Umberto is too expensive for simple guys like us. ;) Please have a look to the pricelist, http://www.Umberto.de/export/download/umberto_de/umberto_pricelist_U5_de.pdf.

Therefor brrmek is right in asking for a way to do a little calculation. Its not necessary doing it as big as Umberto does. But if you are planing to link with excel, dimensioning and recalculation would be possible - why not directly in e!Sankey?

If calculation and an other little peace of software allowing to do some kind of simulation would be build in, e!Sankey will grow up to be the worldwide leader in building and using sankey maps. Or does anyone see a competitor?

Is'nt this a real chance for the owner of e!Sankey???
