Auto generation from a directed graph

Sankey graphs could be viewed as visualization based on directed graphs where edge weights are the flows. It would be really helpful if e!Sankey support automatic generation from some sort of graph data structure. I'm personally interested in trees. Any ideas on how to do this automatically? I can store the data structure in excel of matlab or whatever is most convenient.

Dear fredjiang,

e!Sankey itself can not generate diagram structure by flow data. The e!Sankey LiveLink Feature can only set quantities of existing flows.

We did not realize automatic generation so far, because there are too many diagram types and it will be nearly impossible to fullfill a relevant amount of needs of different users. The only way seems to implement an open and flexible way to describe diagram structure e.g. as list of processes or process groups (in your case maybe the levels of the tree)  and their relativ position and flow data with process references. But most users propably need to customize positions, texts, colors, sizes, entries or graphical elements.

But we have developed some special e!Sankey versions by order of customers which do exactly what they need for their application context. One product for example generates a set of sankey diagrams with different focuses. The diagram represents a process chain which is specified with an integrated e!Sankey assistant. Another customized version visualizes flow data stored in a data base by selecting a diagram type and setting filters and aggregations. All these products have the main advantage that they use e!Sankey as viewing and manipulating tool as it is. The customization mostly contains defining the diagram types and variability and collecting data and pushing it to an e!Sankey diagram.
